May Bird Calendar for the Omaha
Nebraska area

May brings the neotropical migrants in their
colorful breeding plumage into the midlands. Good places to see warblers
and other migrants are Fontenelle Forest in Bellevue, Hummel Park in
northeast Omaha, Tole Park and Elmwood Park in Omaha and Schramm State
Park in Sarpy County. Call the Nebraska Birdline at 292-5325 to learn
the latest on new arrivals in the area. Following is a partial list of
birds and approximate arrival times.

Warblers:
best concentrations the 1st 3 weeks of May. Storm systems during that time
period may bring warbler fallouts & concentrate numbers. Fair weather
may mean they fly right over us. Migrant warblers can straggle through in
fewer numbers through the 1st week of June.
